Day 1: Arrival – San Jose
Arrival to San Jose, Costa Rica (Juan Santamaria Airport). A representative from Costa Rican Trails will meet you at the airport and will provide a private to your hotel located in down town San Jose.
Overnight at Presidente Hotel or Similar, Standard room. Breakfast included.
Day 2: Shared Pacuare Whitewater Rafting - Arenal (B-L)
Today our adventure starts early morning to reach the Pacuare River for a rafting trip (rapids class III-IV). This river has been officially declared a Wild and Scenic River, and offers some of the finest white water in Latin America, winding deep inside of one of Costa Rica's most impressive primordial rainforests. Breakfast on route and lunch is served along the river. After this tour, our representative will transfer you (shared basis) to the Arenal area (3hrs drive). Arenal’s perfectly symmetrical shape makes it a sightseer’s dream, while its abundance of outdoor activities makes it an easy place to check things off your “must-do in Costa Rica” list. So visit one of the nicest volcanoes in Costa Rica, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is just part of what you will find in this amazing area of Costa Rica. Day 3: Shared Arenal volcano Hike & Tabacon Hot Springs (B-D)
Breakfast included at the hotel. Morning at leisure. Time to recover from the exciting rafting experience. Lunch on your own. At early afternoon, you will be picked up at the hotel for an interesting Arenal Volcano Hike followed by a relaxing splash at the world famous Tabacon Hot Springs. Before the active period of 1968, a lavish canopy of vegetation covered the Arenal Volcano. People that climbed Arenal’ s summit related that inside the crater there were big trees and at night, they slept in places where there was some heat due to small steam outlets. Enjoy the most extraordinary view of the Arenal Volcano on a hike along the base and flanks of this giant on the Arenal 1968 park. For this tour we have choose one of the park’s most extraordinary trails to the 1968 lava flows: the remaining memory of the 20th century first eruption and some other areas now in the process of regeneration. We are going to be on this trail for about 2 ½ hours. The “Colada 68” trail will give you the best of the best hiking over lava flows in all the Arenal Volcano area, walk on rocky areas, feel the power and serenity of nature, enjoy amazing views of the Arenal Lake and the Monteverde mountains, plus an insight contact with the local flora and fauna and a great chance for some birdwatching and animal encounters. At the hot springs our visitors can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak, it is also possible to see the sunset over the Arenal Volcano area while you rest at comfortable spa. Dinner is included and served at Tabacon Hot Springs restaurant (buffet basis). After the activity, you will be transferred back to the hotel. Overnight at Volcano Lodge or similar, Superior room. Day 4: Shared Lake Crossing Arenal – Monteverde (B)
Breakfast included at the hotel. The shared lake crossing transfer from Arenal to Monteverde is a half tour – half transfer service due to the landscape you can appreciate on the way to Monteverde (3 hrs transfer).
Around 7:30 a.m. we start picking everybody from the hotels in La Fortuna for a 30 minutes microbus drive to the Arenal Lake Dam. There, you will aboard into a very comfortable and safe pontoon boat for a 30 to 40 minutes (aprox.) ride to Río Chiquito, a little village at the other side of the lake. Arenal Lake is the largest and the most important lake in Costa Rica, it was man made in 1974 to provide hydroelectric energy for the country. It is also a place where you can find different kinds of resident and migratory birds. Sometimes mammals can be seen in the surroundings, also great views of the Arenal Volcano when it’s clear. Once at Río Chiquito, you will leave the boat and make a short break to strength the legs, after, another 1h30 min microbus ride to get to the hotels in the Monteverde area, sometimes during the rainy season this transfer could take longer. Monteverde was founded about 40 years ago by a small group of conservation-minded Quakers who were looking for a peaceful place to live. Its Cloud Forest Reserve is one of the most outstanding wild life sanctuaries in the tropics. Check in at Hotel Trapp Family Lodge or similar. Day 5: Shared Sky Trek (zipline) – Sky Tram (B)
Breakfast included at the hotel. You will be picked up at the hotel and transferred to the Sky Adventures Park facilities. Your tour will start riding an open-air gondola (Sky Tram) from the ground to the heights where you’ll be dropped off at an observation area for fantastic views. From this area, you will start riding down on a zip line track stretching across canyons and in between treetops, the exhilarating adventure of zip lining down the mountainside begins; ultimately returning you to the starting point at the main building. This is the most thrilling zip line in the country. After the activity, you will be transferred back to the hotel.
Free afternoon for optional tours such as horseback riding or a guided visit into the reserve (not included in the package). Overnight at Hotel Trapp Family Lodge or similar, Superior room. Breakfast included.
Day 6: Monteverde - Jaco (B)
Breakfast included at the hotel. After breakfast, you will depart on shuttle bus towards the Central Pacific Coast to the small town of Jaco (3 hrs transfer). Check in at Club del Mar hotel. The afternoon is free to explore the surroundings. Overnight at Club del Mar Hotel or similar, Deluxe room. Continental Breakfast included.
Day 7: Shared Kayak in Agujitas Beach (B)
Breakfast included at the hotel. This morning you will be driven to Agujitas Beach to start an exciting sea kayaking adventure. Imagine yourself cruising silently past spectacular cliffs full of pelicans and frigate birds in a craft pioneered by the Polynesians and perfected for tourism here in Costa Rica. You will travel under your own power accompanied by up to 7 other paddlers and your guide or steersperson (timonel). It's like rafting on the ocean to a secluded beach. The warm waters of the Pacific are home to a large variety of tropical fish that are looking forward to swim with you as you snorkel and explore the underwater world with your guide. After the activity, you will be transferred back to the hotel. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the beach or take a hike at the Carara Biological Reserve (tours not included in this package).

Day 8: Jaco- San Jose – Departure (B)
Breakfast included at the hotel. Private transfer back to San Jose International Airport (option to extend your visit). (2 hrs transfer). Since international airlines request to be at the airport 3 hrs prior departure, we suggest you to book flights departing from San Jose after 10:00 am.
