The crocodile farm in the municipality of Minas, in Camagüey, has become a reference in the protection and care of reptiles.
The breeding and reproduction in captivity of Crocodylus acutus, the American crocodile, is the raison d'être of a center in this town founded in 1985. In Cuba there are seven reptile hatcheries, six of which are dedicated to multiplying this species.
Also in the unit of the aforementioned municipality there are around 1,000 copies and about 400 are born a year.
