Conceived for divers due to its strategic location, in the westernmost area of Cuba, visitors can enjoy the International Diving Center Gaviota "María la Gorda" with access to 50 dive sites, main attraction and a real opportunity to discover the beauty of the marine ecosystem of the paradisiacal zone where endemic species live and where they will find small and isolated virgin beaches.
GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR HOTEL RESERVATION
The María La Gorda Hotel and its International Diving Center are located approximately four and a half hours southwest of the Cuban capital Havana and through extensive plantations of tobacco, banana and sugar cane.
This small hotel is perched on a white sand beach and count on some of the finest and most beautiful dive sites in Cuba and the Caribbean.
About 300km from Havana, UNESCO declared in 1987 the Guanahacabibes Peninsula a Biosphere Reserve that enjoys an abundant flora and fauna. This place, considered one of the best dive sites in Latin America, has multiple dive sites with an enviable visibility, abundant coral gardens and rich marine life. Water temperatures range between 24 and 30 degrees Celsius.
It has 77 rooms distributed in simple but charming cabins with air conditioning. The oldest ones are made of wood while the newest ones are made of concrete; some are located along the beach and others in surrounding areas. Cabins are spacious and well equipped, with air conditioning, satellite TV, balcony or terrace and spacious bathrooms (with shower).
