There is also lots to do as the hotel is in the Bacanao Park area, where there is a large sea life centre, a transport museum (with lots of classic cars), a prehistoric park & activities such as horse riding & hiking. You can also explore the ruins of an ancient French coffee plantation.
Gran Piedra’s facilities are basic but more than adequate for the price & with entertainment activities put on by friendly, enthusiastic staff. The hotel is all-inclusive with food & drink available on a 24-hour basis. The food is good, though the menu can be limited.
Away from the traditional tourist hotspots of Cuba, Gran Piedra is a well run budget hotel which should provide a memorable experience for travellers looking for a different type of Cuban holiday.

Whether you stay in a cabana or bungalow, all rooms are spacious & have either double beds or twin beds. All rooms are ensuite with either a balcony or terrace, many of which have breathtaking views.
With the altitude & humidity, there may be a feel of mustiness or damp in the rooms but the hotel staff can be very accommodating if you experience a problem. The rooms are otherwise rather basic, though clean & comfortable.
